Privacy Policy
This policy explains how the Astro Sigil mobile application (the “App”, “we”, “us”) handles information. By using the App you agree to what is described here. If you do not agree, please do not use the App.
The short version. Astro Sigil has no accounts, no sign-in and no server of ours. It never asks for your name, e-mail, birth date, birth place or location. Everything it knows about you stays on your phone. The only data that leaves your device is handled by Google’s advertising, purchase and analytics services, described in section 3.
1. What the App Does
Astro Sigil calculates the positions of the Sun, Moon and planets for the current day and shows the aspects they form with one another. The calculation runs entirely on your device using a built-in ephemeris. It is based on the date and time only — not on any birth chart, and not on where you are.
2. Information Stored on Your Device
We do not collect or receive personal information. We operate no server and have no database of users. The App creates and keeps the following on your device only:
- Your display preferences — theme mode (system, light or dark) and colour palette.
- Whether you have bought the one-time “remove ads” option.
- Which aspects you have marked as seen, so your collection persists between sessions.
- A short-lived local cache of the current day’s computed sky, so the App opens quickly.
- The time an interstitial ad was last shown, used only to space ads out.
None of this is transmitted to us. It is removed when you clear the App’s storage or uninstall it.
3. Third-Party Services
The App uses the following Google services, each governed by its own privacy policy:
- Google AdMob — serves the in-feed and occasional full-screen ads that fund the App. AdMob may collect and process device and usage information, including a device advertising identifier, IP address, and interactions with ads, in order to serve and measure ads (including personalised ads where permitted). See Google’s advertising policy and Google’s privacy policy.
- Google Play Billing — processes the optional one-time purchase that removes ads. Payment details are handled entirely by Google Play; we never see or store them. We receive only whether the purchase exists, and we keep that answer on your device.
- Google Analytics for Firebase — reports anonymous, aggregated usage and stability information (for example how many times the App was opened, the app version and general device model) so we can tell whether the App is working. It is not used to identify you, and we do not link it to any personal data — because we hold none.
- Google Play Services — the platform layer the three services above run on.
In the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom and Switzerland, a Google-certified consent message is presented before any ad is requested, and your choice there determines whether the ads you see are personalised. In the United States, residents of states with comprehensive privacy laws are shown Google’s U.S. states message instead, which lets you opt out of the sale or sharing of your personal information for personalised advertising. Either message can be reopened at any time from Settings, under Ad privacy settings.
If you buy the ad-free option, the App stops requesting and displaying ads through AdMob.
4. Permissions
The App requests only network access — INTERNET and ACCESS_NETWORK_STATE — and only so the Google services above can function. It does not ask for your contacts, camera, microphone, location, files, or any other sensitive device feature. The astrology itself works offline.
5. Children
The App is not directed at children under 13 (or the equivalent minimum age where you live), and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided information through the third-party services above, please write to us so it can be addressed.
6. Your Privacy Rights and Choices
- Reopen the advertising consent choice at any time from Settings › Ad privacy settings.
- Reset or limit ad personalisation at any time from your device’s advertising settings (“Reset advertising ID” or “Opt out of Ads Personalisation” on Android).
- Remove ads entirely with the one-time in-app purchase.
- Delete everything the App has stored by clearing its storage or uninstalling it. Because there is no account, there is nothing left behind for us to delete on your behalf.
If you are in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom or Switzerland, you have the right to access, correct, erase, restrict and object to the processing of your personal data, to receive it in a portable form, and to withdraw consent at any time — withdrawing does not affect processing already carried out. Our legal basis for advertising is your consent; for the App’s own features it is the performance of our agreement with you and our legitimate interest in operating the App. You may also lodge a complaint with your local data protection supervisory authority.
If you are a resident of California or another U.S. state with a comprehensive privacy law, you have the right to know what personal information is collected about you and how it is used, to have it deleted, to have it corrected, and to opt out of its sale or sharing for cross-context behavioral advertising. We do not sell personal information for money. Showing personalised ads may qualify as “sharing” or “targeted advertising” under those laws, and Settings › Ad privacy settings is how you opt out. We do not knowingly sell or share the personal information of anyone under 16, and exercising any of these rights will never get you a worse version of the App.
Because the App has no accounts and sends us nothing, we hold no personal information to look up, correct or delete on your behalf — a deletion request is satisfied entirely by clearing the App’s storage. For anything else, write to lefou0@outlook.com; you may use an authorized agent where the law allows.
7. Data Security and Retention
Since the App sends us no personal data, we store and retain none. Data the App creates stays on your device under the protection of your device’s operating system until you clear it or uninstall. Information handled by Google’s services is retained according to Google’s policies.
8. Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy from time to time. Changes are reflected by updating the “Last updated” date above. Continuing to use the App after a change takes effect means you accept the revised policy.
9. Contact
For any question or request about privacy, write to lefou0@outlook.com.
