Privacy Policy
Omoicho ("Omoicho", "we", "us", or "the app") keeps your photos, videos, notes and routines in binders on your phone. This Privacy Policy explains what the app handles, where it is stored, and the choices you have. By using Omoicho you agree to the practices described here.
The short version: photos and videos you take go to your phone’s gallery, your binders stay on your phone, and a copy goes to your own Google Drive only if you turn on sync. We run no server that stores your content, the app never asks for your location, and we do not sell your personal information.
1. What the app stores on your phone
a) Photos and videos. Every photo and video you take in Omoicho is saved to your phone’s gallery, in Pictures/Omoicho and Movies/Omoicho, in a folder named after the binder. Film photos that have not developed yet are saved with a faded look that can be reversed. The app removes it on the develop date. Each of these photos also carries a small tag inside the file, in its XMP metadata. The tag holds the film id, film code, shot number, the date taken, the develop date, and a few technical fields (photo id, state, filter version). It is there so the photo can still be developed after a reinstall. It contains no location. If you share the file, the tag goes with it.
b) Binders and pages. Binder names, page titles, dates, notes, tags and routines are saved in the app’s private storage on your phone.
c) Items you link. When you add a photo or video from your gallery, or a document from Files, the app saves a link to it and a small preview image. It never copies or uploads the item itself.
d) No location. The app never asks for your location, never records where a photo or video was taken, and never writes location data into the files it saves.
e) Audio. The microphone is used only while you record a video, and the sound is saved in that video. You can record video without sound by not allowing the microphone. The app records no audio at any other time.
f) Reminders. Routine days, times and checklists are saved on your phone. Reminders are scheduled with Android’s alarm service on your phone. Nothing is sent to us.
2. Google sync
Sync is optional and off until you turn it on in Settings > Storage & sync. It needs you to sign in with Google and to allow access to a hidden app folder in your own Google Drive (the "appDataFolder", Google’s drive.appdata permission). Only Omoicho can read that folder. It lives under your Google account, not ours, and it uses your Drive storage. The app cannot see your other Drive files.
- Off: nothing is copied to Google Drive.
- Metadata: the app copies your binders, pages, notes, tags and routines, plus the small preview images of linked items and the poster images of videos.
- Metadata + media: the app also copies the photos and videos you took in Omoicho, including film that is still developing.
Items you linked from your gallery or Files are never uploaded. If you switch to Metadata or Off, what is already in your Drive stays there. To delete it, go to Settings > Storage & sync > Remove Google account (see section 10).
3. Sharing as PDF
You can turn a binder or a page into a PDF. The PDF is built on your phone and saved in the app’s temporary cache. It leaves the app only when you send it through Android’s share sheet, to the app you pick. Omoicho does not upload it anywhere.
4. Account information
Signing in is only needed for sync. If you sign in with Google, Google Firebase Authentication gives the app your name, email address and a user ID so it can recognize your account.
5. Purchases
If you buy the optional ad-removal upgrade, the transaction is processed by Google Play Billing. We receive confirmation that the purchase was made, but we do not receive or store your payment card details.
6. Advertising
Unless you have purchased ad removal, the app shows ads served by Google AdMob: native ads, an interstitial ad now and then, and an optional rewarded video that you choose to watch. AdMob and its partners may collect and use device information and advertising identifiers to serve and measure ads, as described in Google’s policies. In the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom and Switzerland the app presents a Google-certified consent message before any ad is requested, and your choice there determines whether the ads you see are personalized. In the United States, residents of states with comprehensive privacy laws are shown Google’s U.S. states message instead, which lets you opt out of the sale or sharing of your personal information for personalized advertising. Either message can be reopened at any time from Settings, under Ad privacy settings.
7. Diagnostics
The app and the Google SDKs it uses may collect limited technical information, such as crash, performance, and device data, to keep the app working reliably.
8. Permissions the app requests
- Camera: to take photos and videos.
- Microphone: to record the sound of a video, only while recording.
- Notifications: to tell you when film has developed and to remind you of your routines. Only if you allow it.
- Storage write (Android 9 and older only): to save photos and videos to the gallery. Newer Android versions need no permission for this.
- Start at boot and alarms: to set your routine reminders again after the phone restarts. The app does not ask for the exact-alarm permission, so a reminder can arrive up to an hour late.
- Internet and network state: to sign in, sync with Google Drive, process purchases and show ads.
- Folder access, one time and only if you choose it: after a reinstall, Android no longer lets the app open its own older photos and videos. If you pick Pictures/Omoicho or Movies/Omoicho in the folder chooser, the app can show them again. It looks only at files whose names start with Omoicho_.
- Access to items you pick: when you link a photo, video or document, or choose faded photos to develop, Android gives the app access to just those items.
The app never asks for your location. It does not ask to read your photo library either: it does not request the READ_MEDIA_IMAGES, READ_MEDIA_VIDEO or read-storage permissions. You can deny any permission in your device settings; the parts of the app that need it stop working and the rest keeps working.
9. Third-party services
Omoicho relies on the following Google services, each governed by Google’s own privacy policy at https://policies.google.com/privacy :
- Google Firebase Authentication, for optional sign-in.
- Google Drive (appDataFolder), for optional sync to your own account.
- Google Play Billing, for optional purchases.
- Google AdMob, for advertising, unless removed.
We do not share your content with any third party.
10. Keeping and deleting your data
- Deleting a binder, page, note or routine removes it from your phone and, when sync is on, from your Drive copy.
- Deleting a photo or video you took in Omoicho also deletes it from the gallery and from your Drive copy. After a reinstall, Android may not let the app delete older files; you can delete them in your gallery app.
- If you uninstall Omoicho, your photos and videos stay in the gallery, and undeveloped photos can still be developed after you reinstall. Without sync, your binders, pages, notes, routines and tags are deleted with the app. Photos from films shot with Omoicho 1.x that were still developing are kept only on the phone unless sync is set to Metadata + media.
- You can delete your account at any time from Settings > Storage & sync > Remove Google account. This turns sync off, erases everything the app stored in your Google Drive, withdraws the app’s access to your Drive, and deletes the account record held through Firebase Authentication. If any step fails, the app says so and you can try again. Your binders on this phone and your photos and videos in the gallery are kept.
If you no longer have the app installed, you can delete your account from https://arcanainsight.com/omoicho/delete-account , or write to lefou0@outlook.com and we will delete your account information for you.
11. Children’s privacy
Omoicho is not directed to children under the minimum age required by law in your country (at least 13, or higher where applicable). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with information, contact us and we will remove it.
12. Security
We rely on your device’s protections and Google’s infrastructure to help safeguard your data. No method of storage or transmission is completely secure, but we take reasonable measures to protect the limited information the app handles.
13. International users
Where third-party services process data, that processing may take place on servers located in other countries. By using the app you understand that your information may be handled in accordance with the policies of those services.
14. Your privacy rights and choices
Most of what Omoicho holds is already under your direct control, so the quickest way to exercise a right is inside the app:
- You can use the app without an account, with sync off.
- You can choose Metadata sync to keep photos and videos out of your Drive.
- You can decline the camera, microphone or notification permissions.
- You can delete any binder, page or item, or your whole account and its Drive copy, from Settings > Storage & sync > Remove Google account.
- You can change your advertising choice from Settings > Ad privacy settings.
- You can remove ads through the in-app purchase.
If you are in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom or Switzerland, you have the right to access, correct, erase, restrict and object to the processing of your personal data, to receive it in a portable form, and to withdraw consent at any time — withdrawing does not affect processing already carried out. Our legal basis for advertising is your consent; for the app’s own features it is the performance of our agreement with you and our legitimate interest in operating the app. You may also lodge a complaint with your local data protection supervisory authority.
If you are a resident of California or another U.S. state with a comprehensive privacy law, you have the right to know what personal information is collected about you and how it is used, to have it deleted, to have it corrected, and to opt out of its sale or sharing for cross-context behavioral advertising. We do not sell personal information for money. Showing personalized ads may qualify as "sharing" or "targeted advertising" under those laws, and Settings > Ad privacy settings is how you opt out; you can also limit ad tracking in your device’s own advertising settings. We do not knowingly sell or share the personal information of anyone under 16, and exercising any of these rights will never get you a worse version of the app.
To make a request we cannot handle inside the app, write to lefou0@outlook.com. Where an account is involved we may ask you to write from the address it uses, so we can be sure the request is yours. You may use an authorized agent where the law allows.
15. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by updating the effective date above and, where appropriate, by an in-app notice.
16. Contact
For any question or request about this policy or your data, contact lefou0@outlook.com.
